Seven convicted in attempt to murder case in Palnadu district


Assistant Sessions Judge Court (ASJC-Narasaraopet) in Palnadu district sentenced seven individuals to four years of imprisonment and imposed on each a fine of ₹1,000 in an assault case reported from Thimmapuram under Edlapadu police station limits.

The accused, all belonging to the same locality, face an additional one month in jail if the fine is not paid, said Superintendent of Police Kanchi Srinivasa Rao in a press release on Monday (April 21). 

The sentence was pronounced by Judge K. Madhu Swami.

The incident occurred on the night of July 30, 2021, when a dispute over water use escalated into a violent attack. The convicts, armed with knives, sticks and iron rods, assaulted Birudu Anantha Rao and complainant Birudu Ravi after confronting them for entering their land. Both victims sustained bleeding injuries and were rushed to Guntur Government Hospital, where a complaint was filed based on Ravi’s statement.

The case, registered under IPC sections 323, 324, 307 (read with Section 34), was investigated thoroughly by the then sub-inspector P. Rambabu and circle inspector M. Subbarao.

Mr. Srinivasa Rao said the convicts are K. Subhani, 21, K. Erra Anjaiah, 53, K. Chinnakoti Lingaiah, 29, K. Mani Kumar, 20, K. Bujji, 39, K. Koti Lingaiah, 38, and K. Hanumantha Rao, 27.
