Dr. B. R. Ambedkar Konaseema District Joint Collector T. Nishanthi on Tuesday directed officials to speed up the survey of 895 acres belonging to the Sri Lakhsmi Narasimha Swamy temple at Antarvedi in Sakhinetipalli mandal. The resurvey has been commissioned to protect the temple land from encroachment and illegal conversion for aquaculture.
The temple’s land spans across the villages of Kesavadasunipalem, Antarvedi, Srungavarapadu and Gondi in Razole Assembly constituency. Over the years, parts of this land nestled between the Bay of Bengal, the Godavari river and the Antarvedi mangroves has reportedly been converted into aquaponds over the decade.
In a review meeting attended by officials from the department of Endowment, Revenue, Survey and Land Records on Tuesday, Ms. Nishanthi directed them to complete the resurvey of the temple land promtly.
Lease:
The officials have also been directed to submit a report on the extent of temple land leased to locals. It is understood that as on 2025, at least 726 acres has been leased out to locals who have converted the lands for aquaculture and coconut plantation.
Ms. Nishanthi said: “The resurvey of the temple land must be completed to protect the land from encroachments. All relevant documents, details, lease agreements and claims by the endowment department will be reviewed on August 5.”
District Revenue Officer Rajakumari, Endowment Department Assistant Commissioner V. Satyanarayana, Survey and Land Records Assistant Director A.D.K. Prabhakar and other officials attend the meeting.
