Residents want Thiruneermalai lake to be protected

Residents’ Welfare Associations, environmental activists and members of several organisations on Saturday formed a human chain, urging the State government to protect waterbodies and save the Thiruneermalai lake from encroachment, garbage dumping and sewage. More than 300 people participated in the human chain protest.

Govindarajan, Founder-President, United Federation of Residents Welfare Associations at Tambaram City Corporation; Santhanam of People awareness Centre; and Sunil Jayaram of Chitlapakkam Rising; addressed the gathering and spoke about the importance of protecting waterbodies. They called for immediate action by the government and elected representatives, a release said.
