Pradosh Ranjan Paul was pleased with the way he hunkered down against a disciplined Vidarbha bowling attack to score his second century in as many games on day one of the Ranji Trophy clash here on Saturday.
“It was a satisfying knock where I had to grind it out and took almost 250 balls (sic 247) to get a century. They (bowlers) were also quite disciplined and did not give those easy boundaries,” said Pradosh. “I am happy I was able to score when the chips were down, and it is an important game for us.”
On his circumspect approach, Pradosh said, “I planned not to play cuts and cover drives because the pitch was two-paced and the ball was not coming nicely onto the bat. So, I was waiting only for the balls which were bowled in the stump line or on my legs.”
The batter from Tiruppur also admitted that last year, he was not in the right frame of mind, focusing too much on results. “I was having a lot of expectations. I would get very upset if I was not scoring runs. That has never worked for me since childhood. I feel that in the last year, I have been stressing a lot about it. And that is something I have been trying to change this year.”
