The piling for the construction of the west terminal at the Kozhikode Railway Station as part of its development has begun near platform 4. The new terminal is coming up 15 metres towards the west side of the current Platform 4 to accommodate four more tracks that may be laid in the future. Work on the new building that would accommodate the offices in the railway station has also begun.

Meanwhile, the piling for the east terminal near Platform 1 is in progress. The building adjacent to Platform 1 will be completely demolished for the reconstruction, while the one near Platform 4 will be retained for the time being and will be demolished only as the new tracks are being laid. However, the buildings adjacent to platforms 2 and 3 will be demolished soon to facilitate the construction of the concourse that will link the two terminals, both of five storeys, across the tracks.

The 48-metre wide air concourse will connect all platforms and terminal buildings, enhancing passenger movement.

Meanwhile, the bus stop on the east side of the station has been relocated to facilitate the demolition of the old one.

Two multi-level car parking (MLCP) facilities, a six-floor structure on the west side and a five-floor structure with surface parking on the east side, accommodating 900 cars and 2,500 bikes in total, will come up at the station. Piling works have begun for both. Works of the Health unit are nearing completion.

Other projects include two new foot overbridges, each 12 metres wide, 20 escalators, and 18 lifts. The platforms are being upgraded with granite flooring and with shelters covering their entire length. Additionally, road development work is being undertaken. The works are expected to be completed by June 2027.
