Passenger accused of smoking aboard flight booked

A passenger accused of smoking inside the lavatory of a flight was taken into custody by the Nedumbassery police at the Kochi airport.

The accused, identified as a native of Nattika in Thrissur, was detained on his arrival from Dubai. Reportedly, the flight’s cabin crew alerted authorities about the matter on landing in Kochi on Monday night. He was then handed over to the Nedumbassery police.

He was booked under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and the Cigarettes and Other Tobacco Products Act. He was later released on bail.
