Terror attack
The Editorial, “Force of ideas” (January 3), was interesting. But I wonder whether there is any such thing as a ‘lone wolf’. The terrorist is an integral component of a vast conspiracy.

The world needs to get together to wipe out terror. Sharing vital inputs and a single-minded focus are necessary. The Islamic State needs to be watched closely while the sources of funds would need hawk-like vigil.

‘BLS’ in curriculum
It is apt to consider including BLS (basic life support), which includes cardio pulmonary resuscitation(CPR), a life-saving skill, as a part of the curriculum for students of Class 10.
Irrespective of the syllabus, all students in State schools, private and aided school students of secondary school/high school should be trained in CPR/BLS, assessed and certified. A pass in BLS should be made mandatory before issuing the senior secondary school examination certificate. BLS training is essential because it teaches individuals how to properly manage critical medical emergencies, such as cardiac arrest and obstructed airways. Without immediate and appropriate attention, victims of cardiac arrest and obstructed airways can lose their lives. As young people are the country’s future, teaching them life-saving techniques is necessary.

The essence of cricket
The game of cricket has been considered a gentleman’s game, with an emphasis on fair play with mutual respect.
Players like Sir Garfield Sobers are a living testimony to the embodiment of this game. Let it not deteriorate and become ugly. Let us hope that the ‘cricket elders’ are able to counsel the present generation.
