Lessons from the tremors
Our hearts go out to the people of Myanmar and Thailand who have faced the fury of nature. In a way, it is also a reminder that nature is all powerful. Acting against nature in various forms such as destroying forests and not keeping global warming under check will result in other calamities.
This is also an opportunity for man to realise his follies and desist from annihilating his brethren.

Stray dogs, dangers
I am sure that this is an issue that resonates across many parts of India. The danger posed by stray dogs is rising especially in Kanyakumari district. Over the past four years, over 50,000 people have been bitten by dogs, with many requiring hospitalisation. Stray dogs scavenge from garbage bins and whatever is available by the roadside. Some dogs carry rabies. Although the government carries out sterilisation through Animal Birth Control (ABC) centres, there does not seem to be much change on the ground.
The municipal corporation must enforce dog ownership by issuing pet licences and ensuring responsible pet care. Dog owners should be educated on the importance of monitoring the health of their pets with regular veterinary checks.

Six-run win over CSK
Once again, Chennai Super Kings did not play to its true potential and lost to Rajasthan Royals (‘Sport’ page, March 31). Nitish Rana, in particular, was outstanding. The main reason why CSK has not been off to a good start is due to the batting order, eventually leading to a collapse like nine pins.
