S. Jeyakumar on Friday took charge as the Superintendent of Police of Cuddalore district, after his stint as the SP of Tiruvarur district.
The new SP said that top priority would be to maintain law and order in Cuddalore district, prevent and detect crimes and curb peddling of drugs and banned tobacco products. He added that stringent action would be taken against those involved in illegal activities and in crimes against women and children.
The district police will be organising an intensive awareness campaign on drug abuse and its ill-effects in schools and colleges across the district.
Mr. Jeyakumar also released a WhatsApp mobile number – 78454 58575 on which people could lodge complaints. The public could also meet the SP at the District Police Office between 12.30 p.m. to 1.30 p.m. on all working days, he said.
P. Saravanan is Villupuram SP
P. Saravanan assumed office as the Superintendent of Police of Villupuram district. He replaced Deepak Siwach who has been transferred and posted as SP, Ariyalur district.
Mr. Saravanan said his priority would be to maintain law and order, prevent crimes and special attention would be given to reduce road accidents. A system would be put in place to enable Station House Officers of concerned police stations to receive petitions from the public at designated time.
Mr. Saravanan had earlier served as SP, Organised Crime Intelligence Unit, Chennai.
