Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan: 3-day Bandipur to Bidar bike rally flagged off


A three-day-long bike rally from Bandipur to Bidar, aimed at creating awareness against drugs, reached Bandipalya Circle in Mysuru on August 29, 2025.

A three-day-long bike rally – Nasha Mukti Bharat Abhiyan – from Bandipur to Bidar in Karnataka was flagged off from the Safari Centre of Bandipur Tiger Reserve in Gundlupet taluk of Chamarajanagar district, near Mysuru, on August 29. The bike rally has been organised by the Ministry for Social Justice and Empowerment of the Government of India.

The bike rally was flagged off by Deputy Conservator of Forests S. Prabhakaran, who is also the Director of Banidpur Tiger Reserve. The bike rally seeks to create create awareness about the harmful effects of alcohol and drug abuse while inspiring the people, particularly the youth, to build a drug-free society.

About 20 bikers had been selected to participate in the rally, which pass through several districts, villages, towns and cities of Karnataka and conduct awareness programmes in schools, colleges and public places.

A highlight of the rally is the participation of Nandini Mithun, who has cycled more than one lakh kilometres across India. The organisers hope that she will motivate the youth with her remarkable experiences and commitment to social causes.

The bike rally reached Bandipalya Circle in Mysuru city later in the day, and awareness was created among the people about the campaign to create a drug-free society.

Assistant Director of Department of Youth Services and Sports, Mysuru, Bhaskar Nayak, who was present on the occasion, administered a pledge to people, NSS volunteers and students, who had turned up to participate in the campaign.

The bike rally proceeded to Mandya, where a similar awareness campaign was held at PES Engineering College.

The Department of Youth Empowerment and Sports, Forest Department, NSS and NCC are co-ordinating with the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment in organising the rally.
