Left Democratic Front candidate J. Jayalal Unnithan Communist Party of India (Marxist) [CPI(M)], elected from the Kochalummoodu ward, took charge as the chairperson of the Paravur municipality on Friday. Out of a total of 32 votes, he secured 20 votes, while National Democratic Alliance’s V.S. Rajeev and United Democratic Front’s Paravur Sajeeb received 6 and 5 votes respectively.
LDF’s H. Amina [CPI(M)], representing the Puthiyakavu ward, was elected vice-chairperson, securing 20 out of 32 votes.
In the Karunagapally municipality, UDF’s P. Somarajan (Congress), elected from the Thacheyil ward, assumed office as the chairperson. He secured 19 out of the 37 votes polled. UDF’s Bina Johnson (Congress) from the Kannampally ward was elected vice-chairperson, also securing 19 out of 37 votes.
LDF’s Anitha Gopakumar [CPI(M)], who won from the E.T.C. ward, took charge as the chairperson in the Kottarakara municipality. She secured 17 votes, defeating UDF’s Sheeba Jojo, who received 7 votes. LDF’s A. Shaju [KC(B)], representing the Kulasekharanalloor ward, was elected vice-chairperson, securing 17 out of the 30 votes polled.
LDF’s M.A. Rajagopal [CPI(M)], elected from the Komalamkunnu ward, assumed office as the chairperson of the Punalur municipality. He secured 21 votes, while UDF’s G. Jayaprakash received 14 votes. LDF’s K. Prabha (CPI) from the Ashtamangalam ward was elected vice-chairperson, securing 21 out of 36 votes.
