Mohanlal has once again stamped his authority at the box office. Thudarum, the veteran actor’s latest film directed by Tharun Moorthy, has officially overtaken 2018 to become the highest-grossing film of all time in Kerala. The milestone was confirmed by the film’s team and distributor Aashirvad Cinemas in a celebratory post on X, stating: “No more records left. Just one name: Mohanlal.”
In just 15 days, Thudarum has collected ₹90.35 crore net in India and an estimated ₹192 crore globally, with ₹106.50 crore from India and ₹85.50 crore from overseas markets. The film is expected to cross the ₹100 crore mark in Kerala within the next few days, a feat no movie has achieved in the state so far.
Set in the backdrop of a quiet life, Thudarum follows Shanmugham ‘Benz’, a humble taxi driver whose life unravels after his beloved car disappears. Mohanlal leads the cast alongside Sobhana, with a supporting ensemble including Prakash Varma, Farhaan Faasil, and Aarsha Chandini Baiju.

Fans and industry watchers alike are hailing the film’s success as a representation of Mohanlal’s enduring dominance in Malayalam cinema. With L2: Empuraan already holding the title of highest-grossing Malayalam film globally, and Thudarum now reigning in Kerala, Mohanlal has commanded the top two spots in less than a year. Of the eight films to ever hold the title of “All Time Grosser” in Kerala since 2000, five have starred Mohanlal.
