The U.S. government is set to hold another public hearing on Unidentified Anomalous Phenomena (UAPs) today, aiming to “pull back the curtain” on secret UAP research programs and undisclosed findings. The hearing, titled as “Unidentified Anomalous Phenomena: Exposing the Truth,” will take place at Capitol Hill and will be live-streamed for public viewing.
The hearing, organized by the House Committee on Oversight and Accountability, will include witnesses who are experts in their domain, such as Luis Elizondo, former Pentagon insider; retired Navy Rear Adm. Timothy Gallaudet, journalist Michael Shellenberger, and former NASA administrator Michael Gold, as per reports. The whole purpose of the hearing is for the DoD (Department of Defense) to be compelled to reverse its iclination toward the declassification of material that involves UAPs and to increase the American public’s understanding of these phenomena.
According to reports, Subcommittee Chairwoman Nancy Mace and Subcommittee Chairman Glenn Grothman have stressed upon the need for transparency and accountability, stating, “Americans deserve to understand what the government has learned about UAP sightings, and the nature of any potential threats these phenomena pose.” They added that consistent and systemic transparency is crucial to achieving this understanding3.

The hearing follows the landmark Pentagon report published in March 2024, which concluded that there is “no evidence” that any government investigation, academic research, or official review has ever confirmed that any sighting of a UAP represented extraterrestrial technology. The report also denied any cover-up of alien encounters by the U.S. government. However, it suggested that UAP sightings are likely human-made technology, possibly belonging to a foreign military power.
According to reports, NASA has also weighed in on the topic, with insights from the former NASA administrator Michael Gold, who specifies the agency’s potential role in understanding UAPs. Gold, who is now the Chief Growth Officer at Redwire Space, stated, “Agencies such as NASA have much to offer when it comes to understanding UAP,” emphasizing the importance of collaboration between government agencies to shed more light on these phenomena.

As per recent reports, NASA did not find any evidence of ‘extraterrestrial origin’ for UAP sightings and the nature of these UAP remains unknown, said NASA administrator Bill Nelson on September 14. NASA has also appointed a director of UAP research for further investigation into the matter. Bill Nelson announced that this new role will leverage NASA’s expertise to collaborate with other agencies in investigating UAPs.
The hearing will touch on different aspects of UAP research like, the DoD classification policies, the secret government program currently known as the “Immaculate Constellation,” and the video “Go Fast,” in which a fighter pilot narrates his encounter with a UAP. Testimonies to be given include those of Elizondo and Gallaudet; the former will also testify how the US government has been covering knowledge on UAPs, including materials allegedly obtained from crashed flying saucers.
