Life Insurance Corporation of India’s (LIC) Managing Director Sat Pal Bhanoo has taken charge of the financial and administrative powers and functions of the Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director, in addition to his own duties, the State-owned insurer said on Sunday.
This follows the Centre’s Department of Financial Services conveying approval of the competent authority to entrust the financial and administrative powers and CEO and MD functions to Mr. Bhanoo for three months from June 8, or till assumption of charge of the post by the regular incumbent, or until further orders, whichever is the earliest, LIC said.
On June 7, on completion of his term, Siddhartha Mohanty ceased to be CEO and MD.
Joining as Assistant Administrative Officer in October 1988, Mr. Bhanoo has had a wide exposure in almost all the fields and departments of the corporation. He had held the in-charge position of divisions like Bengaluru-1 and Shimla and has varied experience of working as Regional Manager (Corporate Communications), Regional Manager (Micro Insurance). He was Chief (Senior Business Associate), Central Office Marketing and Regional Manager (Personnel and Industrial Relations), Northern Zone, Delhi. Prior to becoming Managing Director, Mr.Bhanoo was the Zonal Manager (incharge) of Central Zone, Bhopal, LIC said in an exchange filing.
