Systemic reforms needed

Custodial violence is not a new phenomenon. However, there continues to be violence against and the persistent torture of those in prison, depriving them of basic human dignity and rights. The police hide behind the veil of the authority given to them. The call to action is clear — introduce a comprehensive, anti-custodial violence law with strict investigation timelines.

Ruthless Iga Swaitek played immaculate tennis to crush Amanda Anisimova by serving a double bagel in the Wimbledon women’s final 2025 (‘Sport’ page, July 13).

Swiatek has simply proved that she has all what it takes on grass. One felt very sorry for a disconsolate Amanda Anisimova.
