Hans Raj of Jammu and Kashmir and localite Stanzin Chondol won the men’s and women’s titles in the 12th Ladakh Marathon on Sunday.
Hans clocked two hours, 47 minutes, 41 seconds, while Stanzin Chondol covered the distance in three hours and 13 minutes to win by nearly 15-minute margin over Disket Dolma.
On Friday, Tsewang Kundan and Sufiya Sufi won the 122km Silk Route Ultra. Shabir Hussain and Namgyal Lhamo claimed the 72km Khardung La Challenge in the men’s and women’s sections respectively.
The hills came alive for the competition, featuring nearly 6,600 runners from across the country, and 30 from other nations.
“With every edition, we are not just celebrating endurance and resilience but also taking firm steps toward establishing the Ladakh Marathon among the top global races,” said Chewang Motup Goba, founder and organiser of the meet.

Half-marathon: Men: 1. Tsetan Namgail (1:13:10); 2. Tsewang Nangdan (1:15:20); 3. Anurag Konkar (1:20:57).
Women: 1. Stanzin Dolkar (1:30:14); 2. Tashi Ladol (1:32:05); 3. Anvita Verma (1:57:04).
11.2km run: Men: 1. Sonam Stanzin (42:39); 2. Forbo Tundup (42:49); 3. Punchok Tashi (43:41); Women: 1. Skarma Idong Lanzes (47:30); 2. Padma Lamo (57:21); 3. Stanzin Zompa (58:05).
122km Silk Route Ultra: Men: 1. Tsewang Kundan (13:50:01); 2. Phunchok Namgail (14:38:14); 3. Skarma Phurbu Tsering (15:01:01).
Women: 1. Sufiya Sufi (19:12:36); 2. Asha Singh (20:57:35); 3. Corina Van Dam (21:19:06).
