Kerala’s Opposition Leader V.D. Satheesan on Tuesday wrote a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi requesting the Central government’s intervention to ensure the safety of Indian expatriates, including the Malayali diaspora, in the wake of Iran’s missile strikes on a US military base in Qatar.

In the letter addressed to the Prime Minister, Mr. Satheesan said a large number of Indian expatriates, particularly from Kerala, work across the Gulf countries. In this volatile situation, the safety and welfare of these individuals is of critical emotional and social significance, not only to their families but also to the people of Kerala as a whole.

In view of the unfolding crisis and the possibility of further escalation, the Union government should act with urgency to ensure the protection and well-being of all Indians living in the Gulf region, he requested.
