Signalling the emergence of a fresh political force in Telangana, member of the Legislative Council and Telangana Jagruthi presdient, K. Kavitha, has announced her desire to launch a new political party with interests of the State in focus.

Ms. Kavitha, who has been suspended from the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) — whose president is her father K. Chandrashekar Rao — feels that Telangana requires an independent political alternative as the existing parties have failed to meet the aspirations of the people.

She has made it clear several times that she will not return to the BRS, even if invited by its leadership including her father KCR or brother K.T. Rama Rao, as she intends to create her own political path. “I am disillusioned with the BRS. Even if KCR calls me, I will not return to that party,” she said reiterating her stand in the Legislative Council premises on Friday (January 2. 2026) too.

Ms. Kavitha said she had always worked independently and had carried forward her public activities under the Jagruti banner, unlike her brother KTR and cousin T. Harish Rao, who she said worked under KCR’s direction. “Through the Jagruti Janam Bata, I am witnessing people’s hardships firsthand,” she said, claiming that she was rooted to the ground unlike the BRS leadership.

Ms. Kavitha also indicated that she would contest the next Assembly elections through her party. However, there was no indication when the party would come into existence.
