SolarEdge Technologies, an Israeli firm, on Monday said it would remotely track, manage and monitor over one million power inverters and power optimisers it designed and deployed for the photovoltaic (PV) industry across 24 countries, from its newly set-up Global Capability Centre (GCC) in Bengaluru.
Sanjay Puri, Country Manager, SolarEdge India told The Hindu that all these geographies were earlier monitoring, managing and maintaining their installations independently, but the company has decided to consolidate these functions by moving them to a single location, ie; GCC in India for real-time tracking.
“One of the main reasons for this move is to benefit from the quality talent that India offers,’‘ he said.
According to Mr. Puri, through remote management operations, the team in India can track energy production, and consumption in energy meters and battery storage through virtual dashboards set up at the GCC.
The team can also perform troubleshooting tasks remotely such as diagnose problems (fault in meters and inverters) and attend to error messages 24/7. Also, they can adjust system settings remotely in addition to generating system reports and real-time data of system performance.
The monitoring platform offered enhanced performance and yield assurance to PV players through quick fault detection and alerts at the module level, string level and system level. ‘‘All these were aimed at helping PV players to achieve better site performance, optimal yield and maximised solar power harvesting, reduce maintenance cost by increasing up-time and resolving faults quickly,’‘ Mr. Puri added.
SolarEdge, which manufactures smart energy technologies and products such as inverters, optimisers, energy storage systems, and EV charging solutions is also in the process of ramping up its India operation.
“We currently have a 5% market share in the country’s PV market and we want to increase this to 10% in the next couple of years,’‘ he said.
On the people front, he said, the company would add 200 additional hardware, software engineers, power engineers, electrical engineers, mechanical engineers and IOT experts to its existing workforce of over 400 in India.
