New Delhi:
Former Karnataka Chief Minister Jagadish Shettar re-joined the BJP Thursday after meeting senior leaders in Delhi, including Union Home Minister Amit Shah. Mr Shettar, 68, walked out of the BJP less than a year ago – a fortnight before the Assembly election – claiming “ill treatment” by his (then) former party.
Mr Shettar had been denied a ticket to contest the state election. On joining the Congress he was fielded from the Hubli-Dharwad Central Assembly segment, but suffered a big defeat; he was beaten by the BJP’s Mahesh Tenginakai by over 34,000 votes, after which he blamed “money power and pressure tactics”.
