Hyderabad police bust organised cricket betting racket in Mangalhat

The Hyderabad police South-East Zone Task Force and Mangalhat Police apprehended three individuals involved in an organised cricket betting racket linked to the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025.

The accused, Vicky Singh, V. Rakesh and B. Sandeep, were caught accepting illegal bets using line numbers provided by a Chennai-based bookie.

Officers seized ₹1.04 lakh in cash, six mobile phones and a Samsung LED television from the trio. The total value of the seized property is estimated to be around ₹3 lakh.

According to the police, the accused had been operating from Nala Machilipura in Dhoolpet, where they facilitated live betting by supplying line numbers to punters. “Vicky Singh, the main bookie based in Hyderabad, had procured line access from Shailender, a known organiser from Chennai. Rakesh acted as a sub-bookie, while Sandeep was identified as one of the regular punters,” said police.

Based on a tip-off, the South-East Task Force team and Mangalhat police raided the location and detained the accused. The seized items and the trio were handed over to Mangalhat police for further investigation.
