An Executive Officer of the Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowment Department was arrested by the Directorate of Vigilance Anti-Corruption (DVAC) personnel, on charges of accepting bribe from a colleague.
According to sources, the complainant, Sasikumar, 49, an employee in the Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowment department and looking after the records of Sri Agneeswarar temple, Thirukkollikkadu village in Thiruthuraipoondi taluk of Tiruvarur district, lodged a complaint with the DVAC, Tiruvarur, stating that his superior, Jothi, serving as an Executive Officer, demanded bribe to release his salary arrears.
Subsequently, the DVAC personnel laid a trap to the Executive Officer by asking the complainant to handover ‘chemical coated’ currency notes. The Executive Officer was arrested by the DVAC personnel, led by Deputy Superintendent of Police, Nandagopal, while she accepted the currency notes from Mr. Sasikumar at Sri Aanandhavinayagar temple, Mannargudi on Thursday.
