Minister for Health Satya Kumar Yadav launched “Ek Ped Maa ke Naam” initiative as part of the nationwide “NaMo Vanam” campaign led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, at Chiranjeevi Reddy College in Anantapur on Sunday (September 28, 2025).
The Minister said that the programme’s primary objective was to encourage citizens to plant a tree in their mother’s name, and that this initiative would greatly promote environmental protection and social responsibility.
Later, speaking to the media, the Minister highlighted the ecological and social significance of tree plantation. He said that a tree would nurture and protect one like a mother, offering shade, fruits, and shelter.
Mr. Yadav said that tree plantations, free medical camps, and blood donation programmes are being conducted as part of the ongoing nationwide drives, and would continue till October 2.
Officials from various government departments, public, voluntary organisations, and cadres from the Coalition parties took part in the event.
