Mohd Imran Ali alias Kala Imran, 32, a rowdy-sheeter from Old Malakpet; Ranga Shanker Goud, 65, a medical store owner from Barkatpura; Dharamkar Ritesh Kumar, 32, an Apollo Pharmacy employee from Kachiguda; and his brother Dharamkar Mohit Kumar, 31, a finance recovery agent, who were arrested by the Hyderabad police.
Four local drug peddlers were arrested during a joint operation by the Hyderabad Narcotic Enforcement Wing (HNEW) and Chaderghat police on Saturday. The officials seized 74 vials of mephentermine sulphate injections and four mobile phones, all worth ₹1.28 lakh from them.
The accused were identified as Mohd Imran Ali alias Kala Imran, 32, a rowdy-sheeter from Old Malakpet; Ranga Shanker Goud, 65, a medical store owner from Barkatpura; Dharamkar Ritesh Kumar, 32, an Apollo Pharmacy employee from Kachiguda; and his brother Dharamkar Mohit Kumar, 31, a finance recovery agent.
Police said Imran, addicted to the drug, turned into a peddler and was procuring injections from an inter-State supplier in Delhi with the help of an associate, besides sourcing them locally from Ritesh and Mohit Kumar. The two brothers, in turn, obtained the injections from Shanker Goud, who allegedly sold them without prescriptions to earn quick money.
Investigation further revealed that the group supplied the injections at higher prices to consumers in the city to fund a lavish lifestyle. Imran, who has a criminal history and multiple cases against him, was the key link in the racket. His associate Yawar from Malakpet remains at large.
A case was booked by the Chaderghat police and further investigations are under way.
