Despite the sustained success of Vicky Kaushal’s Chhaava, John Abraham’s The Diplomat, directed by Shivam Nair, has managed to perform well at the box office.

By the end of its third day, the patriotic thriller has crossed the ₹10-crore mark. According to the box office tracking portal Sacnilk, The Diplomat has earned Rs 13.30 crore in its opening weekend.
On Sunday, the Hindi maintained its momentum by collecting ₹4.65 crore. The Diplomat is facing a stiff competition from Chhaava, the historical drama based on Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj. The film entered the ₹200-crore club six days after its release.
In The Diplomat, Sadia Khateeb, Kumud Mishra, Sharib Hashmi, Revathy and Jagjeet Sandhu. In the movie, an Indian diplomat rescues a Delhi girl from her abusive Pakistani husband. The issue becomes a hot political dispute between the two countries.
Filmmaker Anurag Kashyap praised John Abraham’s performance in the movie. “I told John, ‘after a long time I am seeing you being a very good actor’. He is not doing unnecessary action or herogiri in the film. He is solely playing a character. And Shivam Nair has made a really engaging film.,” Kashyap had said in a recent interview with The Hindu.
