Looks like the musical wave of Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy is finally set to hit the shores of Kerala! The renowned music composer trio are set to make their debut in Malayalam cinema.
Taking to Instagram, the trio made the announcement. They wrote, “We’re excited to announce that for the first time ever, we’re diving into the world of Malayalam cinema. This one’s got it all – Kochi’s soul, WWE wrestling madness, chenda beats, and a soundtrack that’s literally gonna pack a punch!”
They also wrote, “Very excited to be working with producers Ramesh, Ritesh, and Shihan at Reel World Entertainment. This project is something we’ve never done before, and we can’t wait to share it with you. Title and cast announcement coming very soon – and trust me, you don’t wanna miss this!”
Interestingly, last year, Reel World Entertainment announced a wrestling-themed Malayalam film. While it was supposed to star Arjun Ashokan in the lead, it’s unclear if the actor is still on board the project.
The upcoming film is produced by Ramesh S Ramakrishnan, Ritesh S Ramakrishnan and Shihan Shoukath under the banner of Reel World Entertainment.
Shankar, Ehsaan and Loy are the composers of films like Dil Chahta Hai (2001), Kal Ho Naa Ho (2003), Kabhi Alvida Naa Kehna (2006), Rock On!! (2008), My Name Is Khan (2010), and Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara (2011), have also composed for Tamil, Telugu, and Marathi films. While the trio might be new to Malayalam cinema, Shankar Mahadevan has lent his voice to multiple hit songs with the ‘Kalyana Kacheri’ from Madampi winning him the 2008 Kerala State Film Award for Best Male Playback Singer.
