Shabana Azmi and Naseeruddin Shah are two of the most respected actors in Indian cinema, known for their work in films during the 80s that played a key role in the parallel cinema movement.
Recently, Shabana surprised fans by posting a new picture of Naseeruddin on Instagram, calling him her favorite actor.

In the picture, Shabana was sitting next to veteran director Shyam Benegal at his 90th birthday celebration, while Naseeruddin stood behind her, smiling for the photo.
In the caption, Shabana wrote: “On Shyam Benegal’s 90th birthday with my co-actor of many films and my favourite actor Naseeruddin Shah. Why aren’t more people casting us together ?!”

As soon she shared the photo, likes and comments poured in from all sides. Prateik commented, “Mashallah.” Director

Shekhar Kapur, who directed the two actors in Masoom- one of their most loved films, commented: “What a beautiful photo…”
The veteran actress made her acting debut in Shyam Benegal’s Ankur, a film that received critical acclaim and earned her the National Award for Best Actress.
Shabana and Naseeruddin collaborated on several films, including Manthan, Paar, Sparsh, Mandi, Junoon, and Libaas. In a recent interview with Humans of Cinema, Shabana expressed, “Naseer is my favorite co-star. I’ve worked with many actors, but the experience I had with Naseer is something I miss. I hope someone casts us together again!”
Meanwhile, Shabana was recently seen opposite Dharmendra in Karan Johar‘s Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani. The film also featured Ranveer Singh and Alia Bhatt in key roles.
