Azmi was nominated and she won the award for the Best Actress In A Supporting Role at Filmfare Awards. During the red carpet, Shabana interacted with Zoom and spoke about the kiss. She joked, “Tabu joh meri neice hai, itni shaitaan hai. Voh kehete hai aapne hilake rakh diva industry ko. Ab sab aapki age ki ladkiyaan keh rahi hai ke kiss hogi toh hum karenge. (Tabu is so naughty, she teases me that I created a huge stir within the industry. Now all the actresses of your age are saying we would do the film if there’s a kiss in it).
She further added that for them it was such a small thing in it but it took the audience by surprise and for the audience, people were actually whistling in the theatres when that scene came. Azmi however, credited Karan Johar’s conviction for the way it turned out to be.
The actress revealed her favourite scene in the film and it’s not this kiss scene. She said that her confrontation scene in the film with Alia Bhatt where she gets angry and lashes out even at Shabana telling her that she cheated on her husband was a really powerful scene in the movie.
‘Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani’ starred Ranveer Singh opposite Alia Bhatt and also had Jaya Bachchan alongside Azmi and Dharmendra. The film turned out to be a box office hit in 2023 and also got immense critical acclaim.
