Streaming giant Prime Video today unveiled the trailer of the much-awaited second season of popular thriller series, Paatal Lok. Created by Sudip Sharma and directed by Avinsh Arun Dhaware, the eight-episode series is set to premiere on Prime Video on January 17.
Jaideep Ahlawat returns as inspector Hathi Ram Chaudhary, this time to investigate the murder of a high-profile politician named Jonathan Thom in Nagaland. Chaudhary uncovers deadly secrets, navigating labyrinths of conspiracy, alongside Imran Ansari (Ishwak Singh), who has now risen up in the ranks and above Chaudhary. Tackling personal, professional and life-threatening battles, will “hell’s permanent resident” make it alive this time?
“Inspector Hathi Ram Chaudhary, the haggard, unlikely hero, investigates a high-profile murder case that leads him to remote corners of North-East India, where he battles powerful forces and personal tragedies in his pursuit of truth,” reads the plotline.
The upcoming season also features Tillotama Shome in a pivotal role alongside Gul Panag, Nagesh Kukunoor, Jahnu Barua, Anurag Arora, Prashant Tamang, Merenla Imsong, and LC Sekhose.
The returning season is written by Sudip, Abhishek Bhanerjee, Rahul Kanojia, and Tamal Sen. Produced by Karnesh Ssharma, Babita Ashiwal, Paatal Lok is produced by Clean Slate Filmz in association with Eunoia Films.
The first season of Paatal Lok, directed by Dhaware and Prosit Roy, arrived on the streamer in 2020 during the peak of the pandemic. Its success brought nationwide fame to Ahlawat, known for Gangs of Wasseypur and Raazi, and saw Singh emerge as the breakout performer.
