Actress Nayanthara has made an earnest request to her fans, asking them to refer to her by her name rather than the popular title “Lady Superstar.” In a note shared on X (formerly Twitter) on Tuesday, the actress expressed gratitude for the love and admiration she has received but emphasised that titles can sometimes create an image that distances an artist from their craft.

Addressing her fans, the media, and the film industry, Nayanthara wrote, “Many of you have graciously referred to me as ‘Lady Superstar,’ a title born out of your immense affection. I owe you all a lot for crowning me with such a valuable title. However, I humbly request you all to call me ‘Nayanthara.’ This is because I feel that the name is what I hold closest to my heart.”
She went on to explain that while accolades and recognition are invaluable, they can sometimes place a barrier between an actor and their audience. “Titles and accolades are priceless, but they can sometimes create an image that separates us from our work, our craft, and the unconditional bond we share with you — the audience,” she added.
Known for her roles in films like Aramm, Netrikann, and Jawan, Nayanthara reiterated that cinema unites people and that she wishes to continue entertaining audiences with dedication. She concluded her note by affirming, “Nayanthara will always be and only Nayanthara.”
On the work front, Nayanthara has joined the cast of Mahesh Narayanan’s upcoming Malayalam film, tentatively titled MMMN, which will reunite legends Mohanlal and Mammootty on screen after 16 years. She will also star in Rakkayie, a period-action drama directed by Senthil Nallasamy.
