In an interview with Mid-Day, she said that Priyanka Chopra and Lara Dutta were her seniors in the training class and Priyanka was the ‘star’ of that class. Katrina was putting effort into learning Hindi and Kathak at that time, and from 6 am to 12 noon, they used to get training in a small room with no AC.
She also talked about working with Kabir Khan in the 2009 movie ‘New York’, starring John Abraham, and how Salman Khan convinced her to act in the film.Katrina mentioned that she was not happy about doing the film, but Salman promised her that he would be a great director to work with. Katrina was thinking that Kabir offered her a small film with no dance and song but a pure artistic plot. She expected Kabir Khan to be like a documentary filmmaker. After taking away the commercial hit film ‘Bachna Ae Haseeno’ from her, he seemed to be compensating it with an artistic film ‘New York’, so Katrina was not ready and much angry to take that further.

Katrina went on to reveal that Kabir wanted Salman to be in that film, but it did not happen. After meeting Kabir, Salman was happy and promised Katrina that ‘New York’ would be an incredible film and Kabir would be a great filmmaker. It made Katrina say yes to the film. She expected it to be a very quaint production while entering the set. But it turned out wrong when the film’s schedule wrapped in New York. She called it the most incredible experience in her entire journey. ‘We were crying when it came to leaving; none of us wanted to leave. My closest friends in life are the ones I made on that film. The experience of working with Kabir was an eye-opener for me. He gave me the confidence to find my voice,’ she added.
On the work front, Katrina is expected to collaborate with Priyanka Chopra and Alia Bhatt in ‘Jee Le Zaraa’.
