Jigra box office collection day 3: Alia Bhatt’s film struggles amid controversy with Divya Khossla | Hindi Movie News – Times of India

Alia Bhatt‘s latest release Jigra has seen a disappointing box office performance, marking her lowest opening in a decade. According to Sacnilk.com, the Vasan Bala directorial collected Rs 5.65 crore on day 3, bringing its total to Rs 16.75 crore. Despite a slight boost on its second day, thanks to the Dusshera holiday, the film has yet to hit double digits in daily earnings.
Jigra opened with Rs 4.55 crore, followed by Rs 6.55 crore on its second day.Despite its slow start, the film faces fierce competition from Rajkummar Rao and Triptii Dimri’s Vicky Aur Vidya Ka Woh Wala Video, which surpassed Jigra on its opening day with Rs 5.5 crore and has amassed Rs 17.84 crore so far.
Adding to the challenges, Jigra has been embroiled in controversy. Divya Khossla accused the film of copying her May release Savi. Karan Johar, co-producer of Jigra, posted a cryptic message in response to the allegations, stating, “Silence is the best speech you will ever give to fools,” without naming anyone directly. Divya reacted sharply, accusing both Karan and Alia of ignoring her claims and calling out their “shameless” behavior.

Jigra ‘Jigs Up’ Box Office Collection? Alia Bhatt Lands In Another Controversy

The controversy escalated when Divya further alleged that Jigra’s box office numbers were inflated. In an Instagram story, she claimed that theaters were empty, accusing Alia Bhatt of buying her own tickets and announcing false collections. She ended her post with hashtags like “#weshdnotfooltheaudience” and “#truthoverlies.”

The feud began when viewers noticed similarities between Savi and Jigra. Divya’s film follows a housewife’s mission to free her husband from a high-security prison, inspired by the mythological tale of Savitri and Satyavan. On the other hand, Jigra centers around Alia Bhatt’s character orchestrating a jailbreak to save her brother.
