Streaming giant Prime Video on Friday (January 3) announced that its upcoming action-thriller G20, headlined by Academy Award-winner Viola Davis, will premiere on the platform on April 10.
Directed by Patricia Riggen, the film features Davis as U.S. President Danielle Sutton, who becomes the primary target after a G20 summit comes under siege. “After evading capture by the attackers, she must outsmart the enemy to protect her family, defend her country and safeguard world leaders,” reads the logline provided by Prime Video.
In a statement, Riggen said that the film features Davis in a never-seen-before avatar. “With G20, I wanted to make the kind of classic, edge-of-your-seat action film that I’ve always been such a fan of, but one that draws on the high stakes of our modern and technologically advanced world we live in. I hope to give audiences an experience that will captivate them from start to finish,” added Riggen.
G20 has a script written by Caitlin Parrish and Erica Weiss, and Logan Miller and Noah Miller, with story by Logan Miller and Noah Miller. The cast also features Anthony Anderson, Marsai Martin, Ramón Rodríguez, Douglas Hodge, Elizabeth Marvel, Sabrina Impacciatore, Christopher Farrar, and Antony Starr.
Andrew Lazar, p.g.a., Viola Davis, and Julius Tennon serve as producers in G20. The project is a co-production of Amazon MGM Studios and MRC with Mad Chance Productions and JuVee Productions also producing.
