Chris Martin charmed Coldplay fans with his captivating vocals at the band’s concert in Mumbai on Saturday, leaving the crowd buzzing. Several videos and pictures from the performance at DY Patil Stadium quickly spread across social media, with one video particularly grabbing attention.
In the viral clip, Chris could be heard expressing his gratitude and offering an apology for Britain’s colonial history. “This is our fourth visit to India, and the second time we’re playing. The first time we played a long show and we couldn’t have asked for a better audience. Thank you for coming today, everybody!” Chris said, before adding, “It is amazing to us that you welcome us even though we are from Great Britain. Thank you for forgiving us for all of the bad things that Great Britain has done.”
Since arriving in India on Thursday, Chris, along with his actor-girlfriend Dakota Johnson, has been immersing himself in the sights and culture of Mumbai. The couple was spotted exploring the city, walking hand-in-hand. Chris also visited Marine Drive and offered prayers at a Shiva temple with Dakota, both dressed in traditional attire. Dakota later visited the Siddhivinayak Temple with Bollywood actors Sonali Bendre and Gayatri Joshi.
Chris also shouted “Shah Rukh Khan forever” before one of his performances at the Sunday concert amid loud cheers from the fans. The video quickly started to circulate on social media attracting reactions from the fans of of the superstar and the actor himself.
Sharing the video from the concert, Shah Rukh said, “Look at the stars…look how they shine for you….and everything you do! My brother Chris Martin you make me feel special….like your songs,” the 59-year-old actor wrote. “Love you and a big hug to your team. You are one in a billion my friend. India loves u, @coldplay,” he added.
Coldplay’s India tour kicked off in Mumbai on Saturday, with the band scheduled to perform again in the city on Sunday and Tuesday. Following Mumbai, they will head to Ahmedabad for two consecutive shows on January 25 and 26.
