Communist Marxist Party (CMP) general secretary C.P. John has termed the court’s decision to acquit actor Dileep in the actress assault case a failure of both the prosecution and the State government. He urged the Chief Minister to immediately order a re-inquiry and proceed with an appeal.
Speaking at an event organised by the Kannur Press Club on Monday (December 8), Mr. John said the judgment clearly stated that a quotation was given to commit the crime, and that rape had occurred. In such a situation, he said, it was deeply concerning that the person accused of commissioning the act had been acquitted.
He said that the verdict had left women in Kerala fearful.
