Dharmasthala Skeleton Discovery, Malegaon Blast Acquittals, VP Dhankhar Resigns, Canada Recognises Palestine


After nearly 17 years, a special court in Mumbai acquitted all seven accused in the 2008 Malegaon bomb blast case. Those acquitted include BJP MP Pragya Singh Thakur and Lt Col Prasad Purohit. The court cited lack of reliable evidence, stating that suspicion alone isn’t enough to convict. Compensation has been ordered for victims and their families.

In Karnataka’s Dharmasthala, the Special Investigation Team (SIT) uncovered partial human remains at one of six suspected burial sites. The case stems from a sanitation worker’s complaint alleging forced burials of murder and sexual assault victims between 1995 and 2014. This is the first concrete evidence in a case that could expose a dark chapter in the town’s history.

Following Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar’s surprise resignation on July 21, the Election Commission has finalised the Electoral College list for the upcoming Vice Presidential election. The notification is expected soon. Dhankhar’s sudden exit has raised questions, especially after he acknowledged an Opposition motion in Parliament.

Canada has announced plans to formally recognise Palestine at the upcoming UN General Assembly, joining countries like the UK and France. This marks a significant shift in international diplomacy amid a worsening humanitarian crisis in Gaza.
