Mahabubnagar BJP MP and national vice-president D.K. Aruna has demanded an explanation from Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy, questioning his silence on the issue of alleged donations collected for the National Herald. Accusing the State Congress of having a clandestine understanding with the BRS, she sought to know why the Chief Minister is not disclosing instances of corruption under the previous BRS government and why no action is being taken against it.
Addressing a press conference here on Saturday, Ms. Aruna said that Revanth Reddy’s name had surfaced in connection with ₹80 lakh in donations allegedly made to the ‘National Herald’ on his instructions. She questioned the Chief Minister’s continued silence on the allegations and sought to know how many individuals were coerced or influenced to contribute in Mr. Revanth Reddy’s name.
Accusing the Congress government of going soft on the BRS, Ms. Aruna said, “The Congress promised to probe these irregularities, but so far has only issued statements without taking any concrete action.” She questioned why the Congress government had not yet invited the CBI to conduct a formal investigation, despite earlier announcements to that effect. She also alleged that compensation had not been paid, and rehabilitation and resettlement related to irrigation projects in the erstwhile Mahabubnagar district remained unresolved.
