Fishermen along the South Andhra Pradesh coast have been warned against venturing into the sea until December 1.

The South Coastal Andhra Pradesh and Rayalaseema regions are likely to witness widespread rain, with isolated heavy to very heavy precipitation, on November 29 and 30 under the impact of the cyclonic storm Ditwah. Extremely heavy rainfall is also likely in some districts of South Coastal Andhra Pradesh on November 30.

The cyclonic storm is expected to weaken into a deep depression on December 1 morning and a depression by the evening, according to the Cyclone Warning Centre (CWC), Visakhapatnam.

Meanwhile, the IMD has issued an ‘orange alert’ with isolated heavy to very heavy rainfall in Nellore, Chittoor and Tirupati districts and Rayalaseema regions and ‘yellow alert’ at one or two places in Prakasam, YSR Kadapa and Annamayya districts on November 29.

Light to moderate rain or thundershowers are likely at a few places over South Coastal A.P. on November 29 and at ‘most places’ on November 30. One or two places in North Coastal Andhra Pradesh and Yanam are also likely to record rainfall on November 29 and 30.

Similarly, a ‘red alert’ has been issued for November 30, with the possible occurrence of extremely heavy rainfall at one or two places in Nellore, Chittoor, Tirupati and Annamayya districts. An ‘orange alert’ has been issued with possible heavy to very heavy rain at one or two places in Prakasam and YSR Kadapa districts and Rayalaseema.

‘Yellow alert’ has been issued at one or two places in Anantapur, Sri Sathya Sai, Nandyal, Palnadu, Bapatla, Guntur, Krishna and NTR districts for November 30.

A ‘yellow alert’ has been issued for one or two places over YSR Kadapa, Sri Potti Sriramulu Nellore, Prakasam, Bapatla, Guntur, Krishna, Palnadu and Tirupati districts for December 1.

The sea condition is likely to remain rough and fishermen along and off South Andhra Pradesh coast have been advised not to venture into the sea till December 1.

Meanwhile, Distant Warning (DW) – II is kept hoisted at Visakhapatnam, Machilipatnam, Krishnapatnam and Nizampatnam Ports.
