The Opposition Congress on Monday (December 29, 2025) suspended its agitation for protection of Aravalli range in Rajasthan after the Supreme Court put its directions concerning the definition of the hills in abeyance. The party leaders welcomed the apex courtβs decision and described it as a victory for peopleβs collective struggle.
Pradesh Congress Committee president Govind Singh Dotasra said the Supreme Courtβs order of Monday depicted respect for peopleβs voice and was a βdecisive blow to the mining mafiaβ operating in the Aravalli hills. He said the Congress party workers had stepped forward in large numbers to join the movement to save the Aravalli.
βI am confident that the courtβs final decision will be in support of environment protection,β Mr. Dotasra said, while affirming his partyβs resolve to fight βevery battleβ of people in the State.
Veteran Congress leader and former Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot said the Supreme Courtβs latest decision was βcommendableβ in view of the present environmental conditions. Mr. Gehlot demanded that the original Central Empowered Committee (CEC) on the Aravalli range, which reported directly to the Supreme Court, be reinstated without delay.
