CBI arrests children of Audikesavulu Naidu, DySP in forgery case

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Monday arrested three persons, including a Deputy Superintendent of Police, in connection with cases relating to criminal conspiracy, cheating, forgery, and destruction of evidence.

Those arrested have been identified as D.A. Srinivas, D.A. Kalpaja, children of former Member of Parliament (MP) the late D. K. Audikesavulu Naidu, and S.Y. Mohan, Deputy Superintendent of Police, presently posted at the State Human Rights Commission (SHRC), Bengaluru.

The arrests were made on Monday in cases registered by the CBI following directions from the Karnataka High Court. The cases pertain to the death of K. Raghunath and other connected matters involving alleged forgery of valuable securities, government stamps and seals, creation of false evidence, and destruction of evidence.

These cases were earlier investigated by Bengaluru police. The CBI said the High Court’s orders transferring the investigation to the central agency were subsequently upheld by the Supreme Court. The arrested accused will be produced before the jurisdictional court and taken into custody till December 29 for further investigation.

The case dates back to 2019 following the mysterious death of Raghunath, a close confidante of Audikesavulu, who owned huge properties in Bengaluru and other places. Raghunath, owned many immovable properties in and around Bengaluru. After Audikesavulu’s death in 2013, Raghunath possessed many properties belonging to Adikesavulu.

D.A. Srinivas, son of Audikeshavulu, and others allegedly started pressuring Raghunath to transfer a few of the immovable properties owned by him, claiming that the source of income of the properties in his (Raghunath’s) name was of Srinivas’s father.

He was found dead under mysterious circumstances in May, 2019. Based on the complaint by his son, the police registered an unnatural death report. Meanwhile on February, 2020, Raghunath’s wife registered a complaint alleging that her husband was murdered by Srinivas and others over property dispute. The case was later handed over to the CBI.
