The Supreme Court asked Lok Sabha MP Mahua Moitra on Tuesday (April 1, 2025) to make a representation to the SEBI seeking public disclosure of norms for foreign portfolio investors and alternative investment funds.

A Bench of Justices B.V. Nagarathna and Satish Chandra Sharma disposed of the petition.
Advocate Prashant Bhushan, appearing for Ms. Moitra, urged the Court to put the SEBI on a four-week deadline to respond to the proposed representation.
Mr. Bhushan said chances were that the SEBI would keep the representation without any response indefinitely.
However, the Bench said the petitioner was free to take action according to law if the market regulator did not respond within a “reasonable time”.
