Ramdev slams allopathy, says caused millions of ‘deaths’

Ramdev hits at allopathy: Yoga guru Ramdev has renewed his outspoken criticism of allopathic medicine, alleging that it has led to the deaths of “millions of people in India.” Speaking at a press conference at Patanjali Yogpeeth, Ramdev condemned what he termed as “toxic” synthetic drugs produced by foreign pharmaceutical companies.

In his remarks, Ramdev emphasised his vision for a “swadeshi revolution,” advocating for a shift toward indigenous and natural healthcare practices under the banner of Patanjali Wellness. He asserted that these synthetic drugs, which he described as “poisonous,” are responsible for widespread suffering and death, comparing their impact to historical tragedies during British colonial rule.

Ramdev’s criticism of allopathic medicine is not new and has previously led to legal disputes. He has faced lawsuits from the Indian Medical Association (IMA) and an FIR concerning his controversial statements.

Recently, Ramdev and his associate Acharya Balkrishna were required by the Delhi High Court to retract their claims that allopathy was responsible for numerous COVID-19 deaths and that Patanjali‘s Coronil was a cure for the virus. The court’s decision followed legal action from doctors’ associations, which challenged the claims as unsubstantiated.

Despite these challenges, Ramdev remains steadfast in his commitment to promoting natural and traditional medicine through Patanjali. He has expressed frustration over what he sees as an ongoing struggle for medical autonomy and freedom, emphasising that his goal is to replace reliance on synthetic drugs with indigenous solutions.

As Ramdev continues to advocate for his vision, the debate between traditional and allopathic medicine remains a contentious issue in India’s healthcare landscape.
