Musk’s supercomputer: Dell Technologies and Super Micro Computer will supply server racks for the supercomputer being developed by Elon Musk’s artificial intelligence startup, xAI, the US businessman announced on the social media platform X on Wednesday.
Musk revealed that Dell will assemble half of the racks for xAI’s supercomputer. When asked about the second partner, Musk identified “SMC,” referring to server maker Super Micro. San Francisco-based Super Micro, noted for its strong partnerships with chip firms like Nvidia and its advanced liquid-cooling technology, confirmed the collaboration with xAI to Reuters.
Dell CEO Michael Dell also mentioned in a separate X post that Dell is constructing an “AI factory” with AI leader Nvidia, which will power the next version of xAI’s chatbot, Grok.
