Indian speedster Jasprit Bumrah made a surprise visit to the Gujarat College ground on Monday while Tamil Nadu was playing Karnataka in the Vijay Hazare Trophy.
Bumrah bowled at the nets and left quietly. There were no screaming fans or autograph hunters, and Bumrah had a short but quality stint under the watchful eyes of former Gujarat coach Hitesh Majmudar.
After warming up, the 32-year-old started with a few deliveries from two steps, gradually increasing his run-up. By the end of the session he was bowling with a full run-up, though understandably not at full clip but kept the batter on his toes.
“Ride the bounce,” he told Gujarat Ranji batter Sunpreet Bagga after beating him. Bumrah bowled a few more deliveries that reared off the wicket, and after half-an-hour ended the session.
“He wasn’t bowling at full pace — around 130-135 km. I faced two overs from him,” said a pleased Bagga and he should be as it is not every day you get a chance to face Bumrah.
