Senior leader of the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) T. Harish Rao has said that the legal cell of the party would take a decision on moving the Supreme Court after Telangana High Court dismissed the petition filed by the party’s working president and former minister K.T. Rama Rao seeking to quash the case registered against him and others by Anti Corruption Bureau (ACB), in connection with the Formula-E race.

Speaking to newspersons at the Nandi Nagar residence of Mr. Rama Rao in Hyderabad after the High Court’s decision on Tuesday (January 7, 2025), Mr. Harish Rao said the legal cell would take a decision after going through the judgement copy. He reiterated that Mr. Rama Rao was not against investigation in the case and that he went to the ACB office on Monday (January 6, 2025), waited outside the office for 45 minutes. KTR would go there again on January 9 following the ACB’s notice.

Mr. Harish Rao said that the High Court judgement was for continuation of investigation in the case based on the government’s argument that corruption had taken place in the Formula-E race and not concerning punishment. Irrespective of the spree of cases being booked against the BRS leaders, they would not go back on raising voice against the government and the unfulfilled poll promises of the Congress party.

Mr. Harish Rao said there was no comparison between the case booked against A. Revanth Reddy after being caught red-handed with cash in the cash-for-vote case when he was with Telugu Desam Party and the one booked by the Congress Government against Mr. Rama Rao. While Mr. Reddy was sent to jail after being caught on camera, Mr. Rama Rao had brought Formula-E race to Hyderabad only for boosting the brand image of the City, he said.

Mr. Harish Rao sought to know where was the scope for corruption in the case when there was no instance of money changing hands.

Alleging that Chief Minister Revanth Reddy had got the case booked against Mr. Rama Rao by ACB as part of his attention diversion politics, he said that it is done since Mr. Rama Rao was in the forefront of highlighting Mr. Reddy’s failures as the Chief Minister and his inability to keep the promises made before the elections. The government was now facing opposition from people, particularly from the farming community, for not keeping the word on enhancement in Rythu Bharosa and non-payment of investment support for the Kharif season.
