Governor R.N. Ravi, whose customary address to the Assembly for past two years witnessed unprecedented and unpleasant scenes, will deliver his address to the House for this year on Monday.
The session would mark the first meeting between the Governor and Chief Minister M.K. Stalin since their spat over the rendition of the Tamizh Thai Vaazhthu two months ago.
Speaker M. Appavu called on the Governor on Friday, and invited him to deliver his customary speech.
The recent sexual assault on a student on the Anna University campus, and the demand for justice in the case by parties, including the AIADMK and the BJP, are likely to be discussed in the House.
The Opposition is likely to take up the comments of leaders of the DMK’s allies, such as the CPI(M) and the VCK, on the denial of police permission to stage protests. Following the Governor’s address, the Assembly’s Business Advisory Committee is likely to meet on the same day and decide on the duration of the sitting.
