Souharda Bharata released simultaneously at 23 places across Karnataka

Souharda Bharata, authored by writer and filmmaker Baraguru Ramachandrappa, was released simultaneously at 23 locations across the State on January 10.

In Bengaluru, the book was released in an event jointly organised by Jana Prakashana, Souharda Karnataka, and the Prasaranga of Dr. Manmohan Singh Bengaluru City University.

Ramesh B., Vice-Chancellor of the university, observed that the growing conflicts based on caste, religion, and language have created an alarming atmosphere of social fragmentation, and that the values of harmony and equality advocated by Prof. Ramachandrappa are extremely relevant in the present times.

In his keynote address, Prof. Ramachandrappa emphasised the urgent need to safeguard social well-being in the present complex situation, where the conflict between humanism and fundamentalism has reached a critical stage.

Presiding over the event, former Speaker of the Karnataka Legislative Assembly K.R. Ramesh Kumar criticised communal forces for initiating “bloodshed-driven politics” and creating an atmosphere of intolerance in the country.

Supporting Dr. Ambedkar’s view that religions exist for human beings and not the other way around, he appealed to all genuine patriots to come forward to resist politics of hatred and work towards building a harmonious India.
