Filmmaker Kiran Rao shared a health update with fans, announcing that she was admitted to a city hospital for an appendix surgery. In her Instagram post, she shared a series of pictures and videos from her hospital room. While she shared several selfies and other cheery pictures, it was her wrist band and her name written as “Kiran Aamir Rao Khan” that caught attention.
Kiran Rao on not adopting Aamir Khan ‘s name after marriage
This comes as a surprise as the famed director previously dissed the idea of adopting her husband’s name after marriage. In a previous 2011 interview with TOI, she was asked what was keeping her from adding ‘Khan’ to her name. At the time, Kiran candidly replied, “Kiran Rao Khan would sound very stylish I am sure. When you grow up, you hear your name and wish you had a superb name too. Kiran Rao is simple but I have never understood how people can change their names. I am comfortable being who I am and so is Aamir. He shares my point of view and understands me really well.”
About Kiran Rao and Aamir Khan’s divorce
Aamir Khan and Kiran Rao announced the end of their 15-year marriage when hey announced their divorce in July 2021. According to reports, the couple called it quits after a period of living separately. In a joint statement and video, the couple shared their resolve to remain co-parents to their son Azad and continue working together.
Kiran Rao’s surgery
In a post, Kiran opened up about her surgery. She wrote, “Here I was, all ready to party my way into 2026, when my appendix sent me a reminder to slow down, breathe deep, and give thanks. Immense gratitude for: modern medicine (still can’t understand how that whole 12mm dia appendix came out through a 10.5mm catheter, thank god I’m not a doctor), Doctor Kayomarz Kapadia and the whole surgical team, Ira, Popeye and Shefali for tlc and hospital sleepover fun, Hospital’s super care. My friends and family who mostly came around to laugh at my plumped lips, an allergic reaction, sadly they’re back to normal and unglam now. Aamir Khan moves on with new lady love
Since his split from Kiran in 2021, Aamir has reportedly moved on in his love life. The actor, early this year, announced his new romance with Gauri Spratt. The actor has since been spotted attending several events around the globe with Gauri by his side. While there is buzz about the two possibly tying the knot soon, Aamir has not yet announced any plans.
