Yaduveer Krishnadatta Chamaraja Wadiyar, Mysuru MP, has taken serious exception to using the government building constructed to house the passport office in Ittigegudu for private purposes.

In a press statement here on December 27, Mr. Yaduveer said it had come to his notice that the building, constructed by Mysuru Development Authority, has not been used for the intended purpose for several years.

Instead, it has been handed over to private individuals or institutions, he said, while pointing out that it was an “extremely serious and illegal matter”.

Making it clear that there will be no compromise whatsoever on the matter, the Mysuru MP said he will bring the issue to the notice of the Ministry concerned and seek appropriate action.

Handing over a building constructed using public funds for private use is not acceptable. “It violates the rules and amounts to depriving citizens of the facilities meant for them,” the MP said in the statement.

Mr. Yaduveer said he had written to Mysuru Deputy Commissioner G. Lakshmikanth Reddy seeking an immediate inquiry into the matter. He has sought action in accordance with the rules and necessary directions to start the passport office in the building at the earliest.

The passport office should be easily accessible to the people of Mysuru and surrounding areas, so the government and officials concerned should act swiftly without any delay, Mr. Yaduveer said.
