With only a day away from its theatrical release, ‘Avatar: Fire and Ash’ has been creating a lot of buzz amongst the masses. The third installment in the ongoing franchise is set to release on December 19 in theatres worldwide. It will follow right after the ending of ‘Avatar: The Way of Water.’ Here’s all you need to know about the film ahead of its release.
What to expect from the third ‘Avatar’ installment
Directed by James Cameron, the third installment of the ‘Avatar’ franchise will follow Jake and Neytiri’s family as they take on more challenges. The film is set to explore more parts of the Pandora world, a lot of which was built upon and focused on in the second installment. In ‘Avatar: Fire and Ash’, Jake’s family settles in with the Metkayina clan; however, peace does not seem to be in the cards for them. They end up encountering another violent Na’vi tribe in the area, known as the Ash people, or the Mangkwan clan. When their leader Varang pairs up with Colonel Miles Quaritch (one of the antagonists of the film), all hell breaks loose. Quaritch’s return after the first film, now in a new Na’vi body, has surprised fans the most, and is one of the main aspects of the film which many are looking forward to watching. The film will have darker and more serious themes, as the second film was focused mainly on the water bodies and similar lands, while ‘Fire and Ash’ will explore more of the volcanic regions of Pandora.
What netizens are hoping for
Fans of the franchise who have been looking forward to the film for quite some time now have also started sharing their theories and wishes for the third installment. One person shared on a popular forum platform that, “I’m hoping for stronger, riskier storytelling this time. The visuals are guaranteed, but darker themes, moral gray areas, and real consequences would make it stand out. If it plays too safe again, it’ll still look amazing, just feel a bit hollow,” while another shared, “I’m just ready to go back to Pandora and see what Jimmy cooked up. Expecting to have a ~3hr blast.”‘Avatar: The Way of Water’ and ‘Avatar: Fire and Ash’ were filmed together, side by side. The filming started in 2017 and officially came to an end three years later in 2020. Two future sequels are also in production as well, though no oher information has been provided.
